A blogger at www.jsonline.com submitted a post today about possible wine pairings for Thanksgiving dinner (turkey). The link is here... http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/lifestyle/70436207.html
I also added a comment about how my favorite turkey wines are the Parallel 44 Festivo and the Orchard County Semi-Dry Cherry.

I recently came across an article in the Food & Drink section of the Wall Street Journal (Nov 14-15 Weekend Journal) that had a good article regarding Pinot Nior as a great Thanksgiving wine. Here are few highlights from the article: to see a video describing the wines go to wsj.com/tastings
There is no one perfect wine for Thanksgiving dinner.
The problem is that the meal itself is so varried at different homes, from goose to tofu turkey, that it's impossible to pinpoint one kind of wine that would be pefect with everyting. Not only that, but tradition is important for some families as well.
We, do generally feel that Thanksgiving is a time for American wine and that red wine is more appropriate to the season and the feast.
Pinot Nior, at it's best, has elegant, somethimes earthy tastes that would pair well with Thanksgiving dinner without adding yet another big, challenging taste to the table. And thanks to Pinot's growning popularity, there are more of them available, at all prices, then ever. (For white, American Pinot Gris is a good choice)
Some Thanksgiving Pinot Noir suggestions from the authur:
Au Bon Climat 2007 (Santa Barbra County) $22,95
Robert Mondavi 2007 (Caneros) $23
Domaine Serene "Evenstad Reserve" 2006 (Willamette Valley) $56
Erath Winery 2007 (Oregon) $18.99
La Crema 2007 (Sonoma Coast) $22.95
WillaKenzie Estate "Estate Cuvee" 2007 (Willamette Valley) $25.99
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!
